CPS Energy is renewing its rooftop solar rebate program with another $15 million in funding.
CPS Chief Operating Officer Cris Eugster announced the program's renewal Monday afternoon during the city-owned utility company's board meeting.
Under the new plan, CPS has set aside $9 million for residential projects and $6 million for commercial projects.
Eugster said the utility company will pay a 60-cent-per-watt rebate for rooftop solar projects, with an additional 8 cents for projects using solar panels made by local manufacturer Mission Solar Energy and 2 cents more for using local inverter maker KACO new energy.
The new rebate program includes stricter guidelines for installers and goes into effect on Feb. 3.
