Read This Retiring Utility Commissioner’s Candid Words About Energy Policy

When public servants leave office, they sometimes offer up the most candid words of their career.

And when Mark Ferron, a commissioner with the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), left his post last week in order to focus on his battle with prostate cancer, candor is exactly what he left behind.

Ferron was known as a strong supporter of clean energy. And before joining the CPUC, he had a long career in finance, giving him an understanding of the economics of energy — a crucial skill in a state like California, where policy moves much faster and more aggressively than other states.
